Instructional Design Projects
The following instructional design projects demonstrate my ability to analyze needs, to design a solution in response to identified needs, and to develop learner-centered instruction.
Instructional Needs Analysis
Orientation to the Audio Production Studio (linked PDF file)
Instructional Design Concept
Audio Studio Orientation (linked PDF file)
During fall 2004 while taking EDTEC 544: Instructional Design, I did a teaching internship in an audio production class at San Diego City College. This provided me with an opportunity and a setting to conduct this needs analysis, and to create this design concept in response to the identified needs. I believe that my design concept is an effective and viable solution for the needs identified in the initial analysis.
Learner-centered Lesson Plan
Effective Microphone Techniques for Speakers (linked PDF file)
I created this 75 minute college level learner-centered lesson plan during spring 2004 as an assignment for SDSU ARP 631: Seminar in Instructional Methods and Materials in Postsecondary Education. The content is well structured, in an easy to read table layout. Today I would provide more opportunities for students to be actively involved in their learning. I drew upon my years of audio experience to create this assignment.
Learner-centered Course Syllabus
Communication Skills for Business (linked PDF file)
This is a complete, learner-centered course syllabus I created during fall 2003 as a class assignment for SDSU ARP 611: Curriculum Theory and Development in Postsecondary Education.
I utilized my business and communications skills experience to design this fictional course for community college students. The course assignments section allowed me to flex my creative muscles. If I were to do this project today, I would add more small group work, and increase the number of required online discussion forum submissions from 4 to 12.
