Research Papers
The following research papers highlight my abilities to explore and critically interpret the literature associated with a specific topic, to conduct qualitative research, to analyze collected data, and to report on the findings.
Electronic Performance Support Systems
Literature Review (linked PDF file)
Case Study (linked PDF file)
This case study and associated literature review were both written for ED 690: Methods of Inquiry during spring 2005. These are good examples of my writing, emphasizing my ability to do thorough scholarly research, organize my thoughts, and then clearly articulate my ideas. Today I would ask more probing concluding questions.
An expanded version of this case study formed the basis for a nine page article on performance support tools by Paul McManus and Allison Rossett, published in the February 2006 Performance Improvement Journal, 45(2), p8-16.
PowerPoint and Pedagogy
Literature Review (linked PDF file)
Written for my fall 2005 Integrating PowerPoint and Pedagogy research project for SDSU's Instructional Technology Services, Center for Teaching and Learning, the pICT Project/Qualcomm Institute for Innovation and Educational Success, and Dr. Marcie Bober. This paper is a good example of my ability to research and report both sides of a controversial issue in a neutral fashion. The writing is strong, focused and to the point.
Curriculum Committee Observation
Observation (linked PDF file)
This meeting observation was conducted and written by me as a class assignment for ARP 611: Curriculum Theory and Development in Postsecondary Education, during fall 2003. I have included it as an example of my ability to observe events, and report them in a highly narrative and descriptive style.
