Location Recording
Odds are that your location recording project will not require nearly as much gear as was carried on the J.J. Cale Band tours during the time I was recording Cale's "Live" album!
Touring with Cale gave me the opportunity to record in a wide variety of situations and locales across the U.S., Canada and Europe. Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa, London's Hammersmith Apollo, San Francisco's Great American Music Hall, Munich's Philharmonie, Wolf Trap, and Carnegie Hall to name a few.
In addition to music recording, I have also recorded numerous on location interviews, radio remotes, and a wide assortment of sound effects. In fact, a variety of WWII era airplane sounds I recorded on location in Texas were once used for an exhibit at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum.
In terms of equipment, I have mcuh experience with analog recorders of all kinds, including the industry standard stereo Nagra, and many digital recorders including DAT, ADAT, DA-88, Alesis HD-24, CDR, and the Nagra D.
